Around 1,200 Essex County residents were without power overnight due to an equipment failure.
No power means losing air conditioning, keeping items in the refrigerator cold and fresh, and a very uncomfortable overnight.
“They said last night maybe at about 8:15 power would be restored, so I didn’t hook it up last night,” said Brett Jackson. “Now all night the refrigerators have been off.”
It comes from two separate issues involving equipment failure that were not caused by the heat, one at Orange Road and Porter Place in Montclair.
A PSE&G spokesperson says around 1,2000 customers were without power from Monday afternoon into today.
“I slept on the floor from 10:30 until 2:30 then I went on the bed at 2:30 because it was just too hot to lay on the bed,” says Joan Moe.
Some residents say they’ve lost power three times in the past few weeks.
PSE&G says there was a problem at a substation, which has since been taken care of and is unrelated to the issues.
Customers without power should contact PSE&G at 1-800-436-7734 with any questions.
