Governor-elect Murphy meets with Gov. Christie
Governor-elect Phil Murphy had his first sit-down meeting with Gov. Chris Christie since Murphy was elected to office.
The meeting was private and away from the media. The two men discussed how to handle the transition into January when Murphy takes office.
Christie released a statement after the meeting that said in part, “As I promised before the election, no matter who won, I will not allow for the deliberately disruptive practices that I encountered with the previous administration when I came into office.”
Christie was referencing his experience with former Gov. Jon Corzine.
Christie said that his cabinet began preparing for the transition almost two months ago.
In addition to Thursday’s meeting, Murphy also announced that he selected health care executive Jose Lozano as executive director of his transition team. Lozano was formerly an adviser to Corzine.
