While Sunday's nor'easter turned out to be a "dud" by most accounts, low temperatures left an icy mess across Newark and elsewhere Monday.
Members of the Newark Downtown District worked in shifts to deice storeowners' sidewalks. Other workers were left to do the dirty work themselves.
"I just started working here like five months ago and I done this like three times already," Jose Alvarez lamented about his shoveling duties.
The snow from the weekend storm started to melt during the day Sunday, and people complained whatever slush wasn't picked up then hardened overnight when the temperatures dropped.
With the official start of winter five days away, many residents said they're hoping for a few weather-friendly days yet.
