State election offices around the Garden State are scrambling after thousands of voters were wrongly informed they were not registered to vote.

The letters were sent by the secretary of state's office. Election offices have been flooded with angry calls since the letters went out.

State computers compared motor vehicle information with voter registrations. Any discrepancies led to a letter being mailed.

"I was concerned that I was going to be turned away on Nov. 4," says Joel Martin, a letter recipient.

Carmine Casciano, Superintendent of Elections, wants voters who received the letter to know they are still registered. Voters can also call his office or contact the secretary of state's office to clarify any questions.
