A Georgia man has been charged in connection with a 1989 cold case homicide in Bayonne, prosecutors said.
Joseph Quiros-Soto, 62, is charged with murder and murder during the commission of a burglary, according to the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office.
Quiros-Soto was arrested Wednesday at his home in Griffin, Georgia, by the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office. He is being held in Georgia pending extradition to New Jersey.
Prosecutors say Bayonne police responded Aug. 9, 1989, to a report of a home invasion and shooting at an apartment at 438 Avenue C. Officers found Mauricio Cuadra, 48, of Bayonne, who had been shot by an unknown man who entered the residence.
Cuadra was pronounced dead a short time later.
