A woman has been knitting caps for premature babies in the Brooklyn community.
Most days you can find Alice Mckay working on giving out her handmade caps. She makes them for babies born too early who are fighting to survive.
She says it started when she lost her own grown son a few years ago to gun violence.
Well, the tragedy is what ultimately led to me wanting to do something to, you know, help nurture our community," Mckay says.
To get through her darkest days, she turned to spreading love at Brookdale Hospital where she hands out the knitted caps.
This month, the hospital is celebrating those who were preemies and bringing them back to the hospital to connect with parents of new pre-mature babies.
Mckay says she hopes she can make the journey a little easier for those new parents.
