Police are investigating a shooting in West Orange Tuesday that left one man dead and another clinging to life.

The shooting happened at midnight in the rear parking lot of the Hutton Arms Apartment Complex off Route 280. Police say when they arrived, a 19-year-old man and 20-year-old Devon Rodriguez were lying in a pool of blood next to a Mercedes Benz. Rodriguez was killed in the incident.

Investigators say each victim was shot twice in the head. They also believe the victims were driving the Mercedes at the scene. According to authorities, the shootings do not appear to be execution style.

Witnesses told police the shooter ran from the scene and fled in a sports car.
