Students at two of Wayne Township’s high schools held a rally Tuesday to remember the victims of the Parkland, Florida, school shooting and to bring attention to gun violence.

Hundreds of students gathered on the Wayne Valley and Wayne Hills high schools’ football fields at the end of the day. Many wore black and held a moment of silence for the 17 victims of the Florida shooting. They say that they are standing for safety and called on lawmakers to "make the right decision” about gun control.

"We stand together and no matter who you are, I think it's fairly safe to say, it's not right,” said Wayne Valley senior Matthew Marino. “People should not be dying and this is a change that needs to happen.”

The students also said that they were there to show support for survivors at Stoneman-Douglas High School who will be returning back to the school Wednesday.
