Some Warren County residents feel forgotten by utility company JCP&L after going without power for nearly a week.
A large snowstorm Wednesday dropped over 2 feet of snow on parts of the state. Seventeen-thousand JCP&L customers were already without power when the storm hit due to another nor’easter that struck last Friday.
“We need work done,” said Hardwick Township resident Matthew Donovan. “Talking about fixing something and getting it done are two different things.”
Donovan said that his family has been without heat, electricity and running water since last week’s storm. He said that even his chickens are suffering after their coop was destroyed by a fallen tree.
“This is totally unacceptable,” Donovan said.
Most of the outages were due to trees falling on power lines. In a wooded area like Hardwick Township, this happens often.
Not everyone was unhappy with the cold, dark conditions. Some of the children in Hardwick Township told News 12 New Jersey that they are having fun.
“I think it's really fun to have the power out. It's like camping,” said one child.
But the adults were not so optimistic. Many said that this is the longest they have been without power since Superstorm Sandy in 2012.
