A drive-up viewing party is planned for the implosion of Trump Plaza at nearby Bader Field, but it will cost you.
The implosion is set for next Wednesday at 9 a.m.. Road and boardwalk closures will be in effect and buildings around the former hotel and casino will be on lockdown.
So if you want to see the implosion, it will cost you $10 a car at Bader Field. Officials say they can fit at least 4,500 cars in the lot.
Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small says the gates at Bader Field will open at 7 a.m. "Get there early. We expect a big crowd," says Small.
"The view for that is going to be spectacular," says Capt. Rudy Lushina, of the Atlantic City Police Department. "You'll see most of the building from that location, so that's why we're stressing you park there."
The city had originally planned to auction off the chance to press the ceremonial button for the implosion but that was called off for safety reasons. Instead, seats were auctioned off to help the Boys & Girls Club of America.
"There are 10 spaces at our windows that were auctioned off," says Elizabeth McGlinn, of One Atlantic. "We were able to raise almost $17,000 for the Boys & Girls Club through the auction, so we're very happy about that."
Officials say two other buildings that are part of Trump plaza will be demolished after the implosion. They plan to have the cleanup done by May before the summer season.
