The ride-hailing service Uber is getting tough on badly behaving riders.
Uber rolled out new policies this week. Drivers can give users low ratings for things like being rude, not being ready when your ride arrives or leaving behind trash.
Uber hasn't said what rating threshold riders will have to reach before getting kicked off the system.
But Kate Parker, of Uber, wrote in a blog post: "While we expect only a small number of riders to ultimately be impacted by ratings-based deactivations, it's the right thing to do."
Uber driver Charles Miller, or "Scorch" as he likes to be called, says most passengers are generally respectful, although there are always some bad seeds.
Some riders say the change is a good way to protect drivers, calling the new policy a two-way street.
"If you're consistently a bad passenger, Uber drivers shouldn't be obliged," says Colton Murray, of Levittown.
But some worry that drivers might abuse the rating system.
"See, the only thing you have to worry about is if you don't give the person a good tip, are they gonna give you a low rating or not," says Alan Heller, of Plainview.
But Uber says drivers rate passengers before they're informed of whether a tip was added.
Users can check their rating within the Uber app.
