TSA: Thousands of items already left behind at checkpoints during holiday travel
The holiday travel season is underway, and officials with the Transportation Security Administration say that thousands of items have already been lost or left behind at airport checkpoints.
The items typically range from eyeglasses and jewelry to expensive laptop computers. TSA officials say to place smaller items inside of carryon bags while going through security. Travelers are also advised to keep careful track of their belongings.
The TSA has a "lost and found" warehouse in Union Township where the items are stored for a time.
"We inventory everything," says TSA spokeswoman Lisa Farbstein. "People can contact us. Give us a good description of what it is, when it is that they went through the checkpoint, and will do our best and we will do our best to try to reunite the people with their lost item."
Travelers can contact the TSA though the agency's website.
