Tradesmen in the Jersey Shore area are being advised to take extra precautions following break-ins to dozens of construction vans in Middletown and Hazlet.
Police say these "smash and grab" robberies are happening at night when contractors park the vans in front of their homes or in the driveways.
Several thousand dollars in tools have been stolen. Police are urging contractors to bring in their expensive tools at night and park inside garages when possible.
