The window is closing on homeowners who think they were shortchanged on their Superstorm Sandy flood claims.
Thursday is the Federal Emergency Management Agency's deadline to review their claims.
More than 144,000 homeowners participating in the National Flood Insurance Program suffered a loss in the October 2012 storm. FEMA is allowing them to ask for their claims to be reviewed following complaints that many homeowners were underpaid.
As of last week, more than 16,000 policyholders had asked for a review.
The federal flood insurance program has paid out more than $8 billion to cover Sandy-related damage.
