Police say three people are dead and two are seriously injured after a shooting in Newark Saturday.

Firefighters responded to a house fire on Sanford Avenue around 4:30 a.m. and discovered the victims engulfed in flames. Three of the five shooting victims were pronounced dead. The other two were taken to the hospital, where one victim is listed in critical condition.

The Essex County prosecutor?s office says a 15-year-old girl was among those killed. There is no further information on the other victims. Authorities are investigating whether the fire was started to cover up the crimes.
