Parents are concerned about two major toy recalls that have taken place in recent weeks, but one option is available that can give them a way to test their children?s toys for lead.
Mattel announced its second toy recall Tuesday involving at least 9 million toys, including figures based on the movie ?Cars.? The toys, made in China, could have unsafe levels of lead paint or loose magnets.
Many parents are wondering what they can do to keep their children safe. The answer could come in the form of a household lead paint test kit.
The kits, sold in many hardware stores, are quick and easy to use. They are also inexpensive. Experts recommend not swabbing any red-painted toys because the red paint can give a false positive.
