The charges against dozens of Teaneck High School seniors who police say vandalized their school have been downgraded, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.
The 24 students who are over the age of 18 will face both criminal trespass and criminal mischief charges for the May 1 prank. Both are considered disorderly persons offenses.
The office is also considering a first-time offender program for the 39 teens under 18.
The announcement followed a heated meeting Tuesday night where parents rallied in defense of those seniors with the support of much of the community of Teaneck.
