Inside room 302 at Woodbridge High School, teacher Cari Hain gets ready for the students to arrive Wednesday. She's been a teacher there for 18 years.
But she still gets butterflies on this day.
There's the normal worries of course, and for teachers this time of year, there always seems to be some kind of curveball.
Hain and fellow English teacher Mike Switek have to share their classrooms with eighth grade teachers and students from Woodbridge Middle School, which is undergoing renovations.
"I haven't even been able to set up a desk because my desk is moving to some different rooms," Hain said. "But that's OK."
The biggest change for Switek? Reading assignments will instead be done on screens. There's also an active shooter drill.
But that feeling in the pit of a teacher's stomach the day before the students fill these halls? The hope, the promise, the worries: it's all part of the job that will never go away.
