Boonton police are alerting parents to be on their guard after an attempted child abduction Tuesday. Police say a man tried to force a 10-year-old girl into a car while she was walking home from school.
"I am horrified. It's really scary. I would like to be able to let my kids out within a safe distance on their own. But I don't feel like I can do that anymore," says mother Kristen Harodetsky.
Police say the girl was walking home from school along Cedar Street when a man in a black Lincoln Town Car pulled up next to her and stopped. He got out of the car and grabbed her arm, but didn't say a word. Police say the girl was able to break free and run home, while the man drove off. Police searched the area, but were unable to find the car.
Police say the suspect is 5 feet 9 inches tall and in his 20s. He was wearing a black T-shirt with a skull on it.
