A Brookdale Community College student has been charged with a disorderly persons offense for taking ice from a cafeteria without paying for it.
The student, 18-year-old Cedric Calero of Manalapan, can?t believe the incident could go on his record.
"I could understand if I was getting a drink and didn't pay for it,? he says. ?The fact I took ice and they want to put on my transcript that I'm a thief? That doesn't make sense to me."
Police say the ice was valued at $1.80.
A college spokesperson says he can not disclose details about the case.
