Strong storms lead to damage, power outages across New Jersey
Strong thunderstorms in New Jersey left a lot of damage and power outages in their wake.
The storms uprooted trees, blew over furniture and knocked down power lines. By Friday evening utility crews were still working to restore power to several thousand New Jersey residents.
The worst damage from the storms was in Morris County. Flanders Fire Chief Tyler Wargo says that his firefighters were busy throughout the afternoon responding to calls.
"This afternoon's been extremely busy, responding to car accidents, a bunch of trees down, trees in houses, arching wires," he says.
Utility crews were also out removing tree limbs and repairing power lines.
Other areas of New Jersey reported some flash flooding, including Route 202 in Morris Plains.
Utility crews are expected to work through the night to make repairs and restore power.
