Mayor Raymond Coles earlier this week told News 12 he would allow small religious ceremonies, not civil, with only a bare minimum of people present. Up to 10 people would be allowed to attend – the bride and groom, their parents and a religious official. Coles also says the participants and guests would have to adhere to social distancing rules and wear masks.

The ceremony was expected to be quick, and then the room would be disinfected once everyone leaves.
At the time, Ocean County and the state attorney general's office were not on board.
