Business owners describe love-hate relationship with snow
Posted: Updated:Some New Jersey business owners have a love-hate relationship with snowstorms.
Pizzeria owner James Keane said that his staff at Larosa’s Pizzeria was very busy Wednesday during the snowstorm. He said that it was hard to keep up with delivery orders.
“We feed the public works employees, the police, whatever business has to weather the storm,” Keane said.

But Keane said that he is also ready for this stretch of winter weather to end. He said that the series of nor’easters in the Garden State have cost him a couple of days of business.
“You lose a little business obviously, the day of the storm. Especially if you have to close,” he said. “You also lose money because you have to pay for plowing, so it’s kind of a lose-lose.”
Vincz Liquor Store manager Andrew Yarish said that he actually looks forward to snow days. He said that when severe weather hits, customers rush in to stock up.
“Just as important as milk and bread. Everyone needs their beer and liquor too,” he said.
Some of the customers agreed.
“A little wine, a little libation. Get through the night…it’s going be a long day out there,” said a customer who identified himself only as “KJ.”
Parts of New Jersey saw at least 8 inches of snow by Wednesday evening. This was the fourth winter storm that New Jersey has seen within the span of three weeks.
