Some drivers sacrifice safety as tire prices increase
Rising oil prices are not only causing pain at the pump, they are also affecting the price of tires.
It hasn?t been business as usual for Bob Rayot Tire Service in Oakland. Rayot blames his slow business on the rising price of gasoline.
?Well, every time gasoline goes up ? tire [prices] go up,? Rayot says.
According to Rayot, tire prices have gone up five to eight times since last November. He says according to his trade magazines, prices will go up again on June 1.
Rayot says unfortunately, the higher tire prices have some drivers sacrificing safety to save money. He says there are a lot more bald tires coming into his shop, which is not good.
