Police say a small, single engine Cherokee Piper plane crashed in rural Hunterdon County near Pittstown Wednesday afternoon.
The two men on board survived the crash but sustained injuries. According to Quakertown Fire Company Chief Brad Patkochis, both men were conscious, alert and talking to emergency workers. One man was airlifted to a hospital in Pennsylvania, while the other was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Flemington.
State police say the plane had just taken off from nearby Sky Manor Airport, but for unknown reasons, it went down near the end of the runway, clipping tree tops on its way to the ground. Police say the ultimate crash site was in someone?s backyard about 150 feet from the deck around the home. A mother and her two children were inside at the time of the incident.
