Doreen Sayegh, the owner of the Cranford Theater, came up with a fun idea — a way to win a classic night out and also encourage people shop local.
It all starts with a golden ticket. Businesses in the downtown Cranford area have a few on-hand. People can shop at a store, buy a coffee or eat out and have a shot at winning one. One ticket gets you a free night out to watch “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory” at a local drive-in theater started by Sayegh.
The contest was only announced a few days ago, and people are already so excited.
“We know people started looking last week when they saw a promotion, which is a very heartwarming thing,” says Sayegh. “The goal is to give everyone something fun to do, get people excited, have some fun, because we've all been pretty down lately. I was just looking for ways to make people happy and give them an escape from reality.”
The giveaway is all this week, and ends Friday. The big drive-in movie night is Aug 5.
