Several Beaches at the Jersey Shore are closed as a precaution after last night's heavy rain.
Though the state collects water samples to test for unsafe bacteria every Monday, officials didn't wait to close certain hot spots that typically test high for bacteria after heavy rain.
Swimming in high bacteria levels can cause ear, nose, throat and gastrointestinal infections.
