Sen. Cory Booker and other New Jersey lawmakers are weighing in on President Donald Trump's decision to abandon the 2015 Paris Climate Accord.

Sen. Booker was at the Iron Bound Learning Center in Newark Friday along with other elected Democrats and community leaders to discuss the impact of President Trump's withdrawal from the Paris climate accord on communities of color and the children who live there.

Sen. Booker says cities like Newark are seriously threatened by the president's decision.

"This is not about global warming for them, simply, this is not about the melting of ice caps for them, simply, this is about the health of our children and the economic opportunity for our communities," says Sen. Booker.

Booker went on to say President Trump is retreating on climate activism and surrendering the fight on environmental justice.

President Trump announced his decision to abandon the Paris climate accord Thursday, saying it is not fair to America and says he is looking to renegotiate the agreements terms. France, Germany and Italy quickly issued a statement saying the accord cannot be renegotiated.
