Rutgers students are headed to Washington D.C. Tuesday to fight the proposed elimination of federal student aid programs. The 22 students will meet with members of Congress to discuss the proposal aimed at cutting loans for financially strapped students.Last year alone, more then 4,000 Rutgers students received a Perkins Loan and more then 2,000 of them qualified for a Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant.Students say the proposal, which is set to take effect in 2008, is a mistake and will hurt thousands of students across the country.
