United Water says it has fixed a 24-inch water main that ruptured Tuesday in Jersey City, but a boil-water advisory remains in effect.
The main was ruptured by a construction crew at Charlotte Circle. Crews are flushing the lines to make sure contaminants are gone but samples still need to be checked. United Water says it typically takes 24 to 48 hours to check water samples.
Two water stations have been set up by United Water; one at Sip Avenue and Kennedy Boulevard, the other at West Side Avenue and Lincoln Park. Residents need to bring their own container to receive fresh water.
