The New Jersey Restaurant and Hospitality Association is putting pressure on Gov. Phil Murphy to allow the state’s restaurant industry to reopen.

Members of the association joined lawmakers outside Woody’s Restaurant in Sea Bright Friday morning. They are asking the governor to allow outdoor dining at all restaurants by next Friday and for 100% capacity indoor dining by mid-summer.

“Other than health care, we do sanitation better than anyone. It is ingrained in our daily protocol,” says association president Marylou Halvorsen. “It is imperative to get our employees back to work. As the state’s largest private-sector employer, it will give a great win to the state economic situation.”

Restaurant owners say that they have submitted what they believed was a safe reopening plan to the governor more than a month ago, but they say that little has changed.
