The season of giving kicked off Friday in Freehold.

Shoppers donated new and unwrapped toys to the Freehold Fire Department's and Marine Corps. Toys for Tots Drive.

The event was held at a Walmart on Main Street.

The toys will be given to families in need this holiday season.

Volunteers say it's the most important time of the year because they get to help families who are less fortunate come together.

The toy drive will continue Saturday and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
