A longtime New Jersey congressman is recuperating after undergoing heart bypass surgery.
Democratic Rep. Bill Pascrell Jr. was found to have blockages in his arteries when he went to a hospital in Paterson due to indigestion and heartburn. The 83-year-old Pascrell underwent surgery Sunday. His office announced Monday that he's expected to make a full recovery.
Pascrell, who was first elected to the House in 1996, is running for another term. He faces a challenge in Tuesday’s Democratic primary from Zina Spezakis, a clean energy executive.
