A week after a New Brunswick teenager was shot by police, friends, family and activists are searching for answers, as well as an apology.

News 12 New Jersey was at the rally that was held tonight in response to the incident.The family of the teenager who was shot, Victor Rodriguez, 19, is convinced that the force used by police was excessive. Rodriguez remains hospitalized and relatives say he may not walk again.

The shooting was reportedly captured on a number of security cameras. The family believes the video will support Rodriguez's version of events, that he pulled out and fired a starter gun to scare off some would-be robbers just as police rolled up. Anticipating a weapons charge against him, the family says it has hired a lawyer. Last week's incident has rekindled some hard feelings in the community.
