A 70-year-old man is recovering after a large rottweiler attacked him Tuesday afternoon.
South Brunswick police say the man was walking to get his mail in front of his Ridge Road home when the dog got loose from a neighbor’s home and attacked him.
“The victim suffered a significant arm injury and was bleeding heavily,” police wrote in a statement.
Officials say that when first responders arrived, they applied a tourniquet to stop the bleeding and the victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The owner of the dog was issued a summons and the dog must be quarantined.
