A high-profile sex offender is missing after failing to check in with his parole officer.
Police say that Paul Timmendequas, brother of convicted child murderer Jesse Timmendequas, was last seen on May 26.
His last known address was the Beauty Rest Motel in Edison. Timmendequas is deemed to have absconded from supervision by not returning to the motel.
Police say he should have an ankle monitoring bracelet. Authorities have not been able to track him, so it is believed he was somehow able to get the monitor off his leg.
Timmendequas was convicted in 1999 of sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl and a juvenile family member while all were living in the same home.
His brother, Jesse, was convicted of sexually assaulting and killing Megan Kanka in 1994, which led to the introduction of Megan's Law.
Anyone who may see Paul Timmendequas should not approach him and contact the police.
