Police: 86-year-old man struck, killed by vehicle in Union County

Police in Linden say an 86-year-old man was killed over the weekend after being struck by a vehicle.

Police in Linden say an 86-year-old man was killed over the weekend after being struck by a vehicle.
The incident happened Saturday around 8 p.m. on West Baltimore Avenue near Hussa Street.
According to police, a preliminary investigation determined the Linden man, identified as Robert Kern, was struck by a 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe. Kern was treated on scene and transported to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Police say the driver of the vehicle, a 49-year-old man also from Linden, was not injured in the crash.
The cause of the crash is unknown at this time.
