Pearl Harbor survivor honored in Trenton
A New Jersey veteran was honored Sunday as residents took time to remember the 67th anniversary of the attacks at Pearl Harbor.
A ceremony was held at the Catholic War Veterans Post in Trenton to honor James Hewitt of Lawrence, who was 22 in 1941 when he was stationed at Pearl Harbor with the Navy. Hewitt is one of the last survivors of Pearl Harbor from New Jersey.
Veterans laid wreaths to remember the 2,400 Americans who died at Pearl Harbor, and fired a 21-gun salute to honor them, the survivors of the attack and the men and women in the armed forces today.
Hewitt says he is proud to be honored and proud to honor the defenders of our freedoms today.
