A party benefiting the Asbury Park Community Beach Badge Fund was held Saturday at Lock & Shade salon.
The fund provides underprivileged families badges for the beach so they can enjoy the shore during the day under the watch of lifeguards.
Beach safety supervisor Joe Bongiovanni says the money collected from beach badges is reinvested back into the community. Seasonal beach passes at Asbury Park are $70 for adults and $20 for teens and seniors.
It's free for kids under 12 with an adult. Also, daily passes are $6 during the week and $9 on the weekend.
LeAnn Bescript, of the  Asbury Park Community Beach Badge Fund, says she believes the beach should be free.
Those who attended had a chance to win donated items and  enjoy refreshments.
The goal of the fundraiser was to raise a total of $20,000 this year, providing 200 seasonal badges to adults and 300 to teenagers ages 13 to 18.
