Orange home goes up in flames

An early morning blaze gutted an Essex County home Tuesday.The woman who lived at the home on Park Avenue in Orange was able to escape. She told News 12 New Jersey she smelled smoke when she was upstairs.

An early morning blaze gutted an Essex County home Tuesday.The woman who lived at the home on Park Avenue in Orange was able to escape. She told News 12 New Jersey she smelled smoke when she was upstairs. The woman said she took a look and saw that the downstairs was on fire. She said she ran downstairs and to a neighbor who contacted the fire department.The homeowner said she regrets that she didn't grab her cell phone and that all of her personal belongings were still inside. She said she has insurance and will try to regroup her life and move on. The woman said she feels fortunate she smelled the smoke since she doesn't have smoke detectors.No one was injured in the blaze.
