A 3-month-old pit bull puppy was one of two dogs burned by what is believed to have been a blowtorch, according to officials at the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge.
The shelter says that the pit bull, named Tyler was found injured, burned and bleeding in Paterson. A good Samaritan took the dog home and tried to treat his wounds for a week, but was not able to do it and brought Tyler to the Oradell Animal Hospital.
The incident happened in a “dangerous area known for drugs and dogfighting,”

Doctors say that Tyler’s wounds were severe and that dead skin had to be cut away to treat the wounds, indicating that Tyler had been hurt for some time before receiving care.
It was not clear what happened to the other day. Officials at the shelter say that they are working with police.
Tyler is now stable and is being treated for his injuries.
Anyone who may have information about the incident is urged to contact the police or the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge.
