A fire has reduced a Paterson church to rubble and left one woman injured from smoke inhalation.
The fire broke out inside Exodus Baptist Church on 12th Avenue Friday afternoon and quickly spread to other buildings.
One woman was treated for smoke inhalation, according to Fire Chief Brian McDermott.
“The injury is an elderly woman from smoke inhalation. There was a lot of smoke on arrival. There was a lot of fire and a lot of smoke,” McDermott says.
The fire also caused radiant heat damage to three buildings across the street from the church.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
