Officials: 1 firefighter injured while battling house fire in Newark

A firefighter sustained minor injuries while fighting a house fire that took nearly 100 firefighters to control.

A firefighter sustained minor injuries while fighting a house fire that took nearly 100 firefighters to control.
Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose says that the fire started around 6 a.m. Friday at 382 Leslie St. The fire started in the kitchen and spread to the second and third floors of the multifamily home.
One firefighter was hurt after falling through the floor and sustained a knee injury. Ambrose says that he was treated at the scene by EMS.
Two families comprised of nine adults and two children were displaced after the fire.
The cause is under investigation.
