News 12 The Bronx spoke with a professional on what to do when you see a bees' nest.
Anthony Plankies has been the NYPD's beekeeper for 20 years. He says what you should do when you see a bees' nest or just a bee flying solo is leave it alone.
Plankies says the biggest mistake you can make is to try and hit the bee or raise your arms, because that makes the bee feel threatened and it will likely sting. The types of bees one can find in the area are honeybees, yellow jackets, hornets and wasps.
If you find a nest near your home or anywhere else for that matter, Plankies recommends calling police rather than trying to get rid of it yourself. He says the job should only be done by a professional because it could get dangerous.
