The National Transportation Safety Board has released a preliminary report that describes the final seconds of a small plane’s crash into a house in Middlesex County last month.

NTSB investigators wrote Friday that the plane maintained a steady altitude up to about 30 seconds before the crash then made a steep left turn in the final seconds.

The Cessna crashed into a house in the Colonia section of Woodbridge Township on Oct. 29, killing the pilot. The home was destroyed and two others damaged. No one on the ground was injured.

The pilot, Florida resident Dr. Michael Schloss, was an experienced flier who had left an airport in Virginia en route to an airport in Linden, about three miles from the crash site.

A report on what caused the accident could take as long as two years.
