Newark PD seeks public’s help identifying suspected thief
The Newark Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying a man accused of stealing from a woman in the city.
Authorities say that the theft happened Monday around 12:30 p.m. They say that a woman was walking near 12th Avenue and Camden Street when the suspect came up behind her and stole something out of her hand. He then ran away on foot before riding off on a bicycle toward South Orange Avenue.
Police say that the suspect is a black man who is about 6 feet tall and weighs about 170 pounds. He was wearing a black T-shirt, khaki cargo shorts, tan Timberland boots and a black or dark blue Yankees baseball cap. He was riding a black, white and yellow BMX bike with blue rims around the tires. Newark police have also released a photograph of the suspect.
