The mayor of Newark announced new, strict measures Saturday for three coronavirus hotspots within the city with an executive order.
Ras Baraka says if you live in a designated area, you should not leave your home unless it's an emergency like going to the doctor or filling a prescription.
The designated areas include from Bloomfield to Verona avenues and Lake Street to Route 21; from Springfield Avenue and West Market Street to Martin Luther King Boulevard and South 12th Street and from Avon to Clinton avenues and Irvine Turner Boulevard to South 12th Street.
Baraka says if you need to get fresh air, you're allowed to go outside but not leave your property.
He says there are 31 coronavirus cases and two deaths in the city.
Businesses and employees will be eligible for grants between $5,000 and $10,000.
