New judges sworn in amid ticket fixing scandal
Four new Jersey City judges were sworn in Thursday amid allegations former judges fixed tickets for city employees and friends.
An investigation is under way at the municipal court to see if judges threw out parking tickets belonging to their friends or to city workers. The allegations have driven five judges, including the chief judge, to resign or go on unpaid leave.
The probe started less than a month ago when two employees of the municipal court were suspended for allegedly fixing 65 of their own tickets.
