Holiday traffic on the New Jersey Turnpike appeared significantly lighter Memorial Day, likely due to the pandemic.
The coronavirus has kept many people close to home or at home this year, and Memorial Day was no exception.
Last year, AAA reported 43 million Americans traveled for Memorial Day, and although this year's numbers have not yet been released, they are likely going to be significantly lower because of the pandemic.
The Thomas Edison Rest Area is typically the scene of heavy Memorial Day traffic in the evening, but this year it was eerily clear.
