People looking to become a New Jersey State Trooper must have their application filed by Tuesday night.
The state police are pushing diversity within the ranks of officers as part of the latest recruitment process.
Col. Patrick Callahan told News 12 the demographics of the current group of applicants work out as follows: 45% are white, 28% Hispanic and 18% are Black.
"Not only do I want a diverse state police, I think we need one,” he said. “Especially when we talk about how trust has diminished around the country. That's something that happens in Minnesota, might as well be happening here in Trenton, New Jersey."
Applicants who make it through the process would enter the police academy in March 2023.
